Kneeland Airfield - Humboldt County Airport

Located on a mountain ridge at over 2,700 feet (820 m) above sea level, the Kneeland airfield is used by general aviation aircraft, sometimes seeking an alternate airport during foggy conditions of nearby airports. The Kneeland Airport sits hilltop, northwest of the Ashley Ridge, a little less than 15 miles southeast of the City of Eureka.

Due to the airports's elevation, AMSL 2,737 ft / 834.2 m, and it's proximity to the ocean, high wind conditions are common place for those flying in and out of Kneeland.

Clear days lacking a marine layer, do yield impressive views of the Northwest Pacific coastline, although at 2,700 feet AMSL, foggy conditions are common amongst the surrounding alpine region of Humboldt County.

Hourly weather updates are provided by the airport's Remote Automated Weather System, or RAWS. Kneeland Airport's RAWS is run by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and monitored by the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC).
